I first of all want to congratulate the Ubuntu team on the release of intrepid. They worked long and hard on this release and it does show.
So what does this mean for PC/OS?
PC/OS is still based on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy. This has nothing to do with being behind the times. I have upgraded several packages in Hardy from the initial release. Hardy is well tested, stable and works well. Merlin which is the experimental version of PC/OS will be released in December in OpenDesktop version only.
Intrepid is not an LTS release and I stick with my plan that the most stable versions of PC/OS will be LTS releases. PC/OS 2009 will be released in time for Christmas actually in approximately 2 to three weeks. I have had to roll back on some changes in order to make it as stable as I could. Stability and security are paramount to me and I wont rush a release due to those.
