Black Lab Linux Roadmap 2016


Today we are releasing the Roadmap for the development of Black Lab Linux.  2015 we had a very interesting year and in 2016 we plan to keep that momentum going.  During the year we will working on ports to the Steam machines as well as the XBox One and Playstation 4.  We also have new plans for Enterprise, Education and the positioning of Server 7 Service Pack 1 as we will be working on making it available to SGI customers as well as IBM Linux Mainframe users.  This is the software roadmap the hardware roadmap will be available in February.

January 18, 2016 – Black Lab Linux 8 “Onyx” Alpha 1 Released

March 7, 2016 – Black Lab Enterprise Linux 8 Developer Preview 4 released

March 28, 2016 – Black Lab Linux 8 “Onyx” Alpha 2 Released

April 11, 2016 – Black Lab Linux 7.5 Released – This is a bug and feature fix.

April 25, 2016 – Black Lab Enterprise Linux 8 Developer Preview 5 released

June 1, 2016 – Black Lab Enterprise Linux 8 released, Black Lab Enterprise Linux 8 for Education Released - This release is a major upgrade to the Enterprise releases:

Kernel 4.x
folder level encryption
Full UEFI support
Migration assistant (we will be back porting to past releases to make it available)
Device Driver Manager (Will allow you to check status of installed devices and activate drivers – Replaces Additional Drivers utility)
XFS will be the default filesystem

June 27, 2016 - Black Lab Linux 8 “Onyx” Beta 1 Released

July 4, 2016 – Black Lab Server 7 Service Pack 1 Released – This is a bug and feature fix as well as an ISO remaster. We will also be working on compatibility with SGI systems as well as the IBM LinuxOne system. By this time we should have it certified for the Microsoft Azure platform.

August 28. 2016 - Black Lab Linux 8 “Onyx” Beta 2 Released

December 15, 2016 - Black Lab Linux 8 released – This is a major release some of the highlights include:

Kernel 4.x
